It was one of the best moments of our pregnancy for me. We were nervous she’d deliver on or before but he ended up coming a few days after the baby shower. It was a great time and rare to get all of those people in the same city at the same time under one roof. It was like a mini family reunion. Everyone pitched in to help get everything ready for the shower. His uncles were helping to do what they could too and were probably more excited and happy for his arrival than I was!

Thankfully I made it to town from Florida before you were born. That was a major concern of mine because I had to coordinate my work and client meetings scheduled. You know I was in Buffalo for about three days before the shower and didn’t see his mom until the day of. She was in no rush to see me, despite my plea for a simple hug and belly rub. I pushed through the sorrow by soaking up the time with the fam.

I wanted your mom to have the best baby shower experience in the world. Even though we weren’t seeing eye to eye on your/our future at the time, I tried hard to make that day special for her.

So yeah, his mom wasn’t really feeling me at the time. There were ongoing little issues like the start time, trying to be respectful of the Seventh Day Adventist faith (SDA) and the food menu. Nonetheless, she called me about an hour after the planned start time to tell me she needed a ride. I picked her up of course, but we ended up being almost two hours late. I felt really bad making our guests wait but it was his mom’s day so nothing else mattered.
